The Situation

AMR had a basic ISO9001 accredited management system in place, which was effective and broadly implemented. Changes across the organisation and AMR’s continued success in print packaging had led them to realise that they must further pursue the benefits of having an accredited management system and fully explore and embed its disciplines across the whole organisation to effectively improve customer focus, process thinking, risk management all the while continually improving.

Challenges

  • Legacy management system was dated, and accredited at an 'as-required' state.
  • Many core disciplines of the QMS were micro-managed by Quality department and not fully embedded into management thinking across the organisation.
  • Mixed buy in at the leadership level on the effectiveness of the QMS and the importance of its implementation.
  • Change in mindset across a variety of employees, some being with AMR for over 20yrs, to pursue process thinking in the face of a wealth of experience.

Implementation

The manufacturing engineer has worked closely with AMR and their Compliance team since 2018 to overhaul and rejuvenate its management system including:

  • Continual improvement and re-write of their management systems manual
  • Persistent identification of operational activities and processes in place and development of the documentation to maintain and continually improve
  • Encouragement risk based thinking at an operational and OHS level across the business
  • Revamp of the process documentation, templates and forms to improve the quality of information provided to the operation for the delivery of products and services
  • Continued maintenance and implementation of the QMS

Result

AMR Hewitts has maintained accreditation to ISO9001 Quality management systems certification since working with the manufacturing engineer. It has continued to improve its processing and more effectively deliver leading products and services to an increasingly demanding customer base, achieving exemplary DIFOT .

AMR has met the needs and expectations of its growing Pharm client base, meeting the stringiest quality controls, demonstrating to customers their capabilities in print packaging and the organisation of the management systems execution.
